The new year always brings a natural time of reflection – and invites a look ahead. At ScanSTAT, we passed a few key milestones in our growth, and with those exciting accomplishments have come many lessons. What’s important is that we stay open, humble and ready to learn and adapt to the changes in the shifting healthcare environments and in the industry as a whole. We’re so thankful you’re on this journey with us, and we’re more committed than ever to be your partner in health information management.

To sum up our feelings, we found some great quotes that embody our mindset as we serve healthcare organizations like yours.

“Innovation needs to be part of your culture. Customers are transforming faster than we are, and if we don’t catch up, we’re in trouble.” – Ian Schafer, Founder of Deep Focus

We’re excited to work with clients as they adopt interoperability, explore automation tools and optimize workflows. Release of information isn’t new, but the electronic exchange of data is evolving quickly. Even with the significant changes in technology we’ve been seeing, one thing is for certain: nothing (yet) can take the place of the people behind the technology.

The flow of data is changing as well as expectations for faster delivery of data. These advancements will ultimately remove burdens from providers – but for now, the desire for instant access to data doesn’t have an “easy button.” The fallout of “data impatience” is that our clients receive a barrage of phone calls from anxious (and sometimes unreasonable) third party requestors who literally have legions of callers hired to pester front-office and back-office staff for medical records. Thankfully, our traditional release of information service alleviates a good deal of those “status check” phone calls – but our ultimate goal is to deliver healthcare data so fast that healthcare organizations won’t even have to deal with the status check dialers at all!

Thankfully, we’re working diligently on innovations in interoperability through partnerships with CommonWell, Carequality and regional health information exchanges. These data sources will enable ScanSTAT to re-route data securely and efficiently to alleviate the burdensome medical records process and provide exemplary patient care for those needing their health data quickly.

“I think it’s very important to have a feedback loop, where you’re constantly thinking about what you’ve done and how you could be doing it better.” – Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Space X

Our company has been built on feedback that we have received from our customers. First, our clients asked us to remove the need for on-site records staff, so we moved the release of information process virtual. Then, a client came to us with the need for a document filing solution to handle the overwhelming volume of incoming faxes, direct messages and the piles of scanned documents, which ultimately led to the birth of our inbound document management service.

Because healthcare leaders are the very best source of input, we’d like your feedback to help shape the future service line-up. From clients and prospects alike, one of the largest collective groans we hear involve prior authorizations and insurance verifications. We’ve heard you, and we’d like to know what specific pain points we can address with the addition of a service line tailored to your prior authorization and insurance verification needs. We have created a 2-minute survey to study the pain points for these processes inside your practice. We know your time is valuable and your opinions need to be heard – and to make it even more worthwhile to complete the survey, you have the chance to win a $500 gift card!

As we head into 2019, know that we are listening to you and working hard to bring about positive change to support the issues and challenges facing healthcare administration. We will continue to strengthen our service lines and support our promise of exemplary service to you and your patients. In addition, we also have many exciting, new additions to our existing services to continue to innovate and bring you the quality that you have come to expect from us so you can continue to put your focus on the core mission and patient care for your organization.

Here’s to an exciting and prosperous 2019 for all!
